printed for T Cadell & W Davies, In The Strand 1810 13th edition. 
Half calf over marbled boards, P. 430pp, spine half lacking, upper board near detached, a poor copy. Account of Cœleb's visits to several families to find himself a bride. The book being the character sketches & evaluations of the ladies personal qualities, faults & affectations. Hannah More [ 1745 - 1833 ] writer & philanthropist, this work takes the format of her others, being educational, moralistic & puritanical.

Printed by & for John Roach at the Britannia Printing Office, Woburn Street, New Drury Theatre Royal 1794 - 1795 1st thus. 
Contemporary full calf, G. 60+60+60+60pp, engraved main title, frontis, 4 additional engraved titles to each of the 4 parts, 4 engraved plates, leather very worn & hinges splitting, spine scuffed, leather partly missing from the boards, internally a nice copy. Odd volume of a popular poetry collection which was first published in 1791. It was republished in 1793-94 in six volumes issued as 24 monthly 8 page pamphlets - one of the first books to be published this way. Roach also published 'lewd prints' , lewd enough to find his in jail for a year in 1795.

Printed by D S Maurice, Fenchurch Street ; sold by T Hughes, 35 Ludgate Street ; J Bysh 52 Paternoster Row ; & J Cumming, Dublin 1819 reprint. 
Original mottled boards, VG. 3-60+3-52+3-57+[6]+3-58+[6]pp, series title page, b/w frontis & title vignette to each play, the last two plays each followed by 6pp publishers adverts, the upper board has a paper label showing the series title & vignette, paper label to to the spine, boards rather worn & faded with the spine creased, pages uncut, but a nice copy, rare in the original boards. Odd volume of the 'English Theatre' series containing 4 18th century tragedies. Revenge by 1721 is a minor play, the central character a vengeful moor along the lines of Othello, by an author better remembered for his 'Night Thoughts'. Barbarossa is one of only two plays by Browne, originally performed in 1754. Arden was left uncompleted at Lillo's death - is is stated in the 'Remarks' that John Hoady completed this adaptation of an Elizabethan tragedy. More's 12th century set tragedy Percy met with such success when it opened in 1777 her fortune was made - she remarked that 'one tear is worth a thousand hands and I had the satisfaction to see even the men shed them in abundance` after the second performance.
