Cloth, VG. xii+335pp, b/w frontis, 4 b/w plates, index, remains of a bookplate on the endpaper, cloth at head of spine a little frayed & spine faded, a few pages opened carelessly, otherwise a nice copy. A collection of 3 long essays on the composers Berlioz, Schumann & Wagner and a 4th on Musical Criticism. The Author Sir William Henry Hadow [ 1859 –1937 ] wrote a second volume the following year. The essays on the composers marked a new era in English musical criticism.
