Detailed ethnographic & anthropological account of the Muiscas, a nation of the Chibchan Culture, who were first encountered by the Spanish Conquistadores in 1537. The book gives an account of the Peoples & their culture before they were colonialised by the Spanish - a process which saw much of their way of life destroyed. It was the ceremonies of the Muiscas which gave rise to the Legend of El Dorado. The Muiscas lived in the Central Colombian highlands.
