Monro, Alexander The Anatomy Of The Human Bones And Nerves : With An Account Of The Reciprocal Motions Of The Heart, And A Description Of The Human Lacteal Sac And Duct printed for Mr W Monro and W Drummond, sold by them & other booksellers, Edinburgh 1741 3rd edition. Calf, G. x+324+iv+80pp, upper board detached & leather rather worn & rubbed, title a little grubby with an old ownership inscription, lacks the front & rear endpapers as well as the final blank, a fair copy. The work contains a separate title page for that part of the work on the Nerves & Heart. Ex Library [ Royal College of Surgeons Ireland ] with a single ink stamp. Third edition of a popular account of human anatomy which Monro had originally published in 1726. Unillustrated it was intended to complement his demonstrations on human anatomy which he had begun in 1720 at Surgeons' Hall in Edinburgh Medical School ( he would petition Edinburgh town council in 1725 for a more secure teaching location after accusations of grave robbing by he & his students led to rioting by the locals ). The book was popular due to Monro's 'fine observational and expository skills'. [DNB]. Price:
