No ownership details save for the booksellers ticket of Hannaford's, Exeter. The text is printed in a single column, not divided into verses but with verse numbers in the margin, and variant readings at the foot of the page. GREEK text. A fine copy of a scarce edition. Septuagint Bible which is a new edition of the Sixtine text [originally published Rome, 1587]. The editor has added at the foot of each page the textual variants of Codex A [Codex Alexandrinus], which have been taken from the second edition of Grabe's text of 1720. He has also prefixed an introduction which is extracted from chapters. ii and iii of part 2 of J.G. Carpzov's Critica sacra Veteris Testamenti. This edition also contains book 4 Maccabees [which is not in the Sixtine edition] 'ad fidem MS. Alexandrini exhibetur' . The Bible contains - vol. 1, introduction [ headed D. Joh. Gottlob. Carpzovius de versione Græca LXX virali ], and the text of Genesis - Deuteronomy; vol. 2, Joshua - 2 Kings; vol. 3, 1 Chronicles - Job; vol. 4, Psalms - Ecclesiasticus; vol. 5, Hosea - Epistle of Jeremiah; vol. 6, note 'Lectori' and text of Ezekiel - 4 Maccabees.
